Shubh Navratri 2022 ! Significance of Navratri Day 5 (Panchmi Tithi) - Dedicated to Goddess Skandmata

Skandmata:

Skandmata means mother of Skandh (Lord Kartikeya). The demon Tarkasur had a boon of not getting killed by anyone except Lord Kartikeya. So, Parvati took birth in the home of Himalaya and she ultimately married Shiva and became the mother of Kartikeya.  Ultimately, Devi Parvati (Skandmata) is credited for killing the demon Tarkasur.



Appearance:

She is mounted on a ferocious lion. She has a motherly affection she has four hands. In two hands, she has lotus, in one hand, she is holding her son Kartikeya and the fourth hand is in the blessing posture.

Significance:

We should all worship the divine mother to get her motherly affection. Mothers should worship her to make their sons and daughter successful in every sphere of life. If you have any problem related to communication, want to become a good singer, or have voice related problem, worship mother Skandmata because she is related to the Vishuddha Chakra.

 How to worship Maa Skandmata:

  •       Light a lamp (with ghee or mustard or sesame oil) and place it on the altar near the Goddess' idol/image. Then, invoke Maa Skandmata by chanting the following Mantras.
  •       Offer her bananas as bhog.
  •       Offer her blue color flowers.

·         Om hreem kleem devyai namah |

·         Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu Maa Skandmata Rupena Samstita |Namastasyay Namastasya Namastasyay Namo Namah ||

·         Om Devyai Skandmatay Namah |

·         Simhasangata Nityam Padmashritkardvaya | Shubhdastu Sada Devi Skandmata Yashasvinee ||
